Rigid and semirigid preshaped Hertra® 1, 2 and 2A meshes are used to repair inguinal hernias in open surgery, and are easily and rapidly positioned as a result of their rigidity and shape-memory features. For this reason, Hertra 1, 2 and 2A meshes do not require sutures or other fixing methods, and are the only original means of repairing inguinal hernias by the sutureless Trabucco tension-free method.
Hertra 1 and 2 meshes are indicated for male inguinal hernia repairs: the eccentric eye is in an anatomically correct position for the passage of the spermatic cord, and the prosthesis design is the result of hundreds of inguinal canal measurements performed by Prof. Trabucco.
The Hertra 2A mesh is used for female or male inguinal hernias in orchifunicolectomy cases.

The light and ultralight preshaped Hertra® 6, 6A e 7 meshes are used to repair inguinal hernias in open surgery.
The Hertra 6 and 7 meshes have a low grammage and therefore the material implanted is minimum but sufficient to guarantee an excellent fibroblast infiltration process.
Fixing may be by means of sutures or more modern methods such as platelet glue or gel. If the platelet glue or gel fixing method is used, there could be a great many benefits given that it offers the option of applying the Trabucco "Tension-free, sutureless" technique.
Hertra 6 and 7 meshes are indicated for male inguinal hernia repairs.
The Hertra 6A mesh is used for the repair of female or male inguinal hernias in orchifunicolectomy cases.

Hertra® 9 and Hertra® 9A preshaped meshes are used to repair inguinal hernias in laparotomy surgery, and are woven with quadriaxial technology1, a process created and developed by Herniamesh which, when applied to preshaped mesh, produces prostheses that are reinforced along the required direction.
Mesh woven with this technology is therefore stronger, smoother and lighter, and maintains its shape under tension.
Quadriaxial prostheses can be positioned with or without fixing; in the latter case advantage can be taken of the so-called "Trabucco surgical technique". Furthermore, Hertra 9 prostheses can be handled and adapted as easily as a mesh with higher grammage. The Hertra 9 prostheses is used to treat the male inguinal hernia, while Hertra 9A mesh is used to repair inguinal hernias in females and males in orchifunicolectomy cases.
